Why Donating to Women Speak Up Intensifies Your Impact

If you don’t already know, Giving Tuesday falls on every Tuesday after Thanksgiving. It is the largest annual global event that is dedicated to donating to charities and nonprofits, so they are able to help those that are in need. It was officially established in the year 2012 and has been something that people and charities look forward to every year. When you donate on Giving Tuesday, you are doing more than putting your money into a charity, you are saving a life. Your donation helps someone, somewhere directly, which is why we emphasize the importance of this day. If it was you, your child, your friend, you’d want them to have the best chance possible at life, and if making a difference doesn’t light something up in your heart, we have failed to complete our mission as the human race.

Our Charity:

Women Speak Up is a 501(c) nonprofit based in Perth Amboy, New Jersey that is dedicated to empowering women every day and dedicates its cause to help women seek resources and an outlet to speak their minds. For those that don’t know, the Women Speak Up organization was established in 2018 and has officially been named a nonprofit in 2020. Women Speak Up has done many things that have never been introduced before with any other charity. This charity doesn’t just give the proceeds to people in need like other charities, but we use our proceeds to offer things like other resources for all types of women or host annual events which for many charities, is unheard of. We want to emphasize how interactive our charity is and how we volunteer our time to help women every single day. We also offer internship opportunities for women who may be in college, as well as those who have already graduated, in order to further help them in their career journeys and open them up to opportunities they may have never been exposed to without us.

Events:

Every year, Women Speak Up hosts an annual event to bring women from the New York and New Jersey areas to come and celebrate each other and women everywhere. This past year, we hosted our 6th Annual Women Speak Up event, which had a very successful turnout. We were able to host over 20 vendors, over 10 artists and speakers, and we hosted about 150 guests. We try to make this event as large as possible every single year in order to further establish our credibility and allow different women to join us for our events. We host different artists, performers, poets, and vendors every single year in order to switch things up based on the theme for the event. This year, our theme was, “Women Celebrating Their Stories”, and we had women from all over attend this event. Some examples of women that we have hosted are Alana Van Der Sluys, a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor and TEDx speaker, and Olivia Rodriguez, a real estate expert with extensive experience as a New Jersey realtor and title agent. These are just a couple of women that spoke about their experiences and how being a woman in their industries comes with challenges that they face head on. With Women Speak Up, we are able to let these women use their voices to educate and preach to other women.

Internships:

If this already doesn’t give you more of a reason to donate to us, we also have many positive reviews from past interns that we feel have not only empowered us as a non-profit but have also been very helpful in giving us feedback. We make sure that after letting our interns go, we send them off with a reminder of how hard they worked and how their inclusion on many projects has not only rewarded them but rewarded us in so many ways. We are so happy to have teams that are so supportive of us and therefore, we are equally as supportive to them. The interns are also the ones that help locate the resources we provide, plan the events we have, do intern “takeovers” on our social media, and offer direct help in order to help you and other women. When donating to us today, remember that you are not only helping women everywhere, but you are also helping the people that also help you.

To conclude, we are here to educate you more on why today, Giving Tuesday, is the best time to donate to our non-profit. Overall, we are here to ask you to donate to something that not only helps you as a woman, but helps the woman you’re sitting next to, the woman who raised you, the woman you may raise, and the woman you were born to be. If you haven’t already, head to our website at www.womenspeakupus.org to donate to us this Giving Tuesday.
